Pokemon Regulation Red / Blue

Pokemon Regulation is a rom hack that attempts to maintain as much of the vanilla experience as possible while also allowing players to challenge themselves by applying special rules to the gameplay. Upon starting a New Game, you will be asked to provide a regulation code before your adventure starts. You can generate regulation codes on this page. We also have a Discord Channel.

How To Play

Step 1

Acquire one of these roms:

Step 2

Apply the corresponding IPS Patch with Lunar IPS.

Step 2 (alternative)

Apply the corresponding BPS Patch with beat. There is no need to do this if you used a IPS patch.

Step 3

Make yourself a regulation code. The game will allow you to input it when you select New Game. There are also built-in codes in the game for trying out various challenges.

Getting Pokemon

You can only catch the first pokemon encountered in each area (Nuzlocke style)

You are unable to catch wild pokemon

You are unable to catch legendary pokemon

You are unable to get gift pokemon

You are unable to trade pokemon

You are unable to catch Safari Zone pokemon

You are able to catch trainer pokemon

Items

You cannot shop at marts or vending machines

You cannot use restorative items in battle

You cannot use restorative items outside battle

You cannot use battle items

New Trade Stone item which evolves Pokemon

Battles

You can only use your starter Pokemon in battle

You have no random wild encounters

You gain no exp from trainer battles

You gain no exp from wild pokemon

You cannot run from wild encounters

Your Super Effective moves do not do more damage

Only your Super Effective moves can deal damage

Pokemon

Pokemon won't evolve

You cannot teach pokemon moves with TMs and HMs

Your Pokemon gain no moves from gaining levels

You cannot use the daycare

Pokemon permanently die when fainting

Other

Trainers respawn when using a Pokecenter or blacking out

You cannot use Pokemon Centers or other party heals

You are sent back to the Pokecenter when loading your game

Sent to title screen when you black out

Savefile erased when you black out

You can use HMs directly without teaching them

Travel and HMs are not gated by Gym Leaders
